Fendi sponsors Wangechi Mutu's "Black Soil Poems" at Galleria Borghese
Fendi is pleased to sponsor "Black Soil Poems", a solo exhibition by Wangechi Mutu – the first living female artist to exhibit at Galleria Borghese – that reimagines of the museum through suspended forms, radical spatial gestures, and new mythologies.
Curated by Cloé Perrone, the exhibition is display 10 June – 14 September.

The title evokes the dual nature of Mutu’s practice: poetic and mythological, yet deeply connected to contemporary social and material contexts.
Conceived as a site-specific intervention, the project unfolds throughout the museum’s interior galleries, its façade, and the Secret Gardens with an installation at the American Academy in Rome, challenging classic tradition and establishing a multilayered dialogue between the artist’s contemporary language and the symbolic institutional authority.
To mark the exhibition, the artist has also worked on a customised interpretation of the Fendi icon – the Peekaboo bag.
