Artisanal savoir-faire, luxury and contemporary design: the history of Fendi has always been synonymous with elegance and experimentation.
It all began in a small boutique in the heart of Rome, founded in 1925 by Adele and Edoardo Fendi. Soon, with the opening of a specialised bag and fur workshop, a series of successful collections and special collaborations, the Maison is projected into the international fashion scene.
Karl Lagerfeld joins the fashion house in 1965, marking the start of a new creative era destined to last over five decades. In 1992 he is seconded by Silvia Venturini Fendi, third generation of the Fendi family, and in 2000 the Maison becomes part of the prestigious LVMH Group.
British designer Kim Jones takes the role of Artistic Director for Couture and Womenswear in 2020, alongside Artistic Directors Silvia Venturini Fendi and Delfina Delettrez Fendi, third and fourth generation of the Fendi family.
The year 2020 marks the latest evolution of the the house's signature aesthetic, with the unique collaboration between Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear, and Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Artistic Director of Jewellery.
Palazzo della Civiltà
In 2015, Fendi moved its offices to one of the most emblematic buildings in Rome: the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. Fendi’s decision reflects the Maison’s intention to pay tribute to its heritage while simultaneously focusing on the future.
Palazzo Fendi is not just a flagship store, it is also a place where visitors can fully experience the magic of Fendi. Palazzo Fendi combines the Maison’s commitment to creativity in all its forms: from collections to architecture, even offering the chance to stay in the exclusive Fendi Private Suites.
