INTRODUCTION
After Steps Through Work Fendi / Karl Lagerfeld 1985 reactivates an exhibition that in October 1985, at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, celebrated the first twenty years of collaboration between Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld while serving as a bridge towards the future
Today, the exhibition guides visitors once more through the stages of the fur-making process from conception to design and production following a narrative sequence designed by Lagerfeld himself, revealing the experimentation that radically transformed the relationship with fur as a garment, generating unique and revolutionary results
The Exhibition aims to be a visual journey through the work involved in bringing a collection to life, from the initial concept to the finished garments. Along the way, it showcases the creativity of K.L., of those who work alongside him to develop and interpret each individual idea, and of those who devise new prototypes and innovative techniques. In short, it celebrates the creativity of an entire team that creates garments according to both age-old and experimental approaches
