Product Compliance

Product-compliance---thumbnail

As a Maison representing the ‘Made in Italy’ worldwide, we must ensure that all our products are free from hazardous substances and manufactured using safe chemicals.

In 2022 we produced and distributed around 3.000.000 products. Discover more about our Compliance program.

Fendi Testing Programme

In  2015 we developed the FENDI Testing Programme.

  1. First, we screen all our suppliers for compliance with the LVMH Restricted Substances List (RSL), aligned with international certification standards like OEKO-TEX®, and with local regulations (REACH, PROP65, GB 18401-2010);
  2. Then we carry out assessment tests, for a final check.

On average, each year we send around 2,500 materials for all product categories to be tested by an accredited independent lab, depending on the complexity of the products in the collection, reaching more than 95% compliance.

Materials that are not compliant with our standards are rejected from production.

Responsible Disposal Of Hazardous Waste

As part of the LVMH Group, since 2019 we have been working with the ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) Foundation.

We are committed to ensuring zero discharge of chemical pollutants. To reach this goal, it is essential to follow sustainable chemical management practices all over the supply chain.

We at Fendi, as well as the Group, have decided to take a holistic systems approach to Sustainable Chemical Management, implementing the following practices in our supply chain:

  1. ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL): List of banned substances in the manufacturing processes and the concentration limits that are allowed;
  2. ZDHC Chemical Management System (CMS): A framework of good business practices focused on processes enabling good chemicals management practices.
  3. ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines (WW): Guidelines and indicators to measure wastewater, sludge, and air quality of the Input and Process Areas, and to determine if the output water and air are safer.

ZDHC Foundation implemented the ZDHC Gateway, a platform to ensure transparency and collaboration and to eliminate harmful substances from global supply chains. It is the world’s largest database dedicated to enabling safer choices of chemical products for the textile, apparel, and footwear industry.

FENDI has set up a 2023 target on ZDHC conformity of our supplier:
